CHALLENGE
Aging Infrastructure & Increasing Demand
This facility needed better control over cBOD5 and ammonia levels in its oxidation ditch while keeping energy costs low. Their existing system lacked efficiency, making compliance and sustainability harder to achieve.
SOLUTION
A Scalable & Efficient Treatment System

After exploring multiple options, the community chose Newterra’s Tri-Oval® Oxidation Ditch retrofit for its proven efficiency and adaptability. The upgrade featured three Triton aerator/mixers, precisely controlled by dissolved oxygen instrumentation, to optimize treatment performance. This retrofit replaced the existing aeration system and was specifically designed to achieve effective nitrogen removal within the community’s 0.75 MG oxidation ditch.
To enhance process efficiency, the system was configured with two TR50 Triton units delivering aeration and mixing in the aerobic zone, while one TR10 Triton aerator/mixer operated primarily as a mixing unit in the anoxic zone, ensuring optimal conditions for biological nutrient removal.
By taking action before challenges became crises, this Tennessee community has secured a reliable, cost-effective wastewater treatment solution that supports their residents, local businesses, and future development. Their commitment to smart infrastructure planning ensures that clean water and sustainable growth remain priorities for generations to come.
SERVICE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE
In today’s climate-conscious world, such initiatives are crucial for long-term sustainability and corporate responsibility

” By improving design and performing rigorous testing Newterra decreased energy consumption by 20% for its flagship model “
Power consumption for the TR and 2.0 Series was calculated using motor frequency data taken at 15-minute intervals. Accounting for the difference in AOR, the Triton 2.0 consumed 20% less energy without the need for electrical updates or any changes to existing infrastructure.
Upgrading equipment offers a dual benefit: cost savings and environmental impact reduction. By embracing newer, more efficient technologies, municipalities like these can optimize operations, cutting down on energy consumption and waste. This not only saves money but also minimizes their ecological footprint, contributing to a healthier environment. In today’s climate-conscious world, such initiatives are crucial for long-term sustainability and corporate responsibility.
