Groundwater Treatment System

CHALLENGE

Having worked with Newterra on multiple past projects, the contractor turned to them again for a dependable and fast-track solution. Newterra deployed a standard 150 GPM rental unit (RTS261) from its fleet. The system was delivered fully tested and came with all required electrical approvals (MET) and a province-wide Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA), enabling water discharge without the delay of site-specific permitting.

SOLUTION

Newterra implemented a tailored water purification system consisting of:

Oil/Water Separator (OWS) with free product storage
Bag Filters for particulate removal
Three (3) 3,000 lb Media Filters: one with organo clay for large hydrocarbon molecules, and two with activated carbon for polishing
PLC Control System for on-site automation
SiteLink™ Remote Monitoring and Control for real-time data access and system management

By integrating these components into the site, Newterra created a reliable treatment train that met regulatory needs while minimizing operational impact.

RESULTS

Newterra’s quick deployment and reliable system design ensured the project stayed on schedule. The treatment system effectively removed hydrocarbons and suspended solids, meeting stringent discharge criteria. The built-in ECA expedited mobilization, saving the client valuable time and resources. Startup and training services provided by Newterra further ensured smooth system integration and operation.

Newterra’s fully tested rental system with MET certification and a province-wide ECA, allowing immediate discharge without site-specific permits
