CHALLENGE
Newterra designed and manufactured a comprehensive, low-disruption solution featuring two Aquip® enhanced media filtration systems and a Clara® 40C plug-flow separator. These systems were selected specifically for their ability to target known pollutants associated with scrap metal operations.
SOLUTION
Newterra implemented a tailored water purification system consisting of:
Clara® 40C served as a passive pre-treatment unit to remove settleable solids and free oil
Aquip® 210SOE and 160SOE followed, providing fine filtration for trace oil, fine solids, and dissolved metals
By integrating these components into the site’s stormwater conveyance system, Newterra created a reliable treatment train that met regulatory needs while minimizing operational impact.
RESULTS
Newterra supplied a wastewater treatment system that delivered reliable performance without disrupting ongoing facility operations. The system was engineered for effective, targeted pollutant removal, helping the company meet and exceed environmental compliance standards. In addition to operational benefits, the project reinforced the manufacturer’s reputation as a responsible urban business committed to sustainability and regulatory excellence.
Additionally, the plant benefited from a reduced carbon footprint due to increased boiler efficiency and water savings, further enhancing operational sustainability.
“Newterra represents best-of-class solutions that provide an ROI every manager will appreciate. Given the choice to proactively make a capital investment versus being subject to third-party lawsuits, I will always choose to invest in the future of our business. This is why we partnered with Newterra.”
