Newterra Goes Down Under
Recently, Newterra Regional Sales Manager Jorge Walkup, along with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, headed to Australia as part of a delegation that included commissioners from Minnesota’s agriculture and DEED departments and other Minnesota industry representatives.
The delegation visited Melbourne and Sydney to engage in high-level summit meetings with various “Clean Tech” industries from the region. Some discussions focused on expanding Minnesota’s goods and services exports, specifically on agriculture, clean technology, higher education, medical technology, and water technology. This trade mission marks a significant milestone, the first ever between the State of Minnesota and Australia. Trade missions like this showcase the importance of trade between both countries. In fact, in 2022 alone, Minnesota exported $438 million in goods and services while taking in $141 million in imports from Australia.
“It was a busy trip but so meaningful,” says Jorge. “Over the ten days, the delegates and I had the opportunity to meet with people in industries, universities, and environmental leaders, getting valuable insight into what a more sustainable world will be looking for. In addition, and between our busy itinerary, I attended in-person meetings and video calls with our local reps from Australia and New Zealand and visited an existing client and a potential new customer looking for a more sustainable way of treating water and wastewater.”
Newterra’s enhanced aeration processes enabled an Australian Fishery to achieve strict wastewater effluent limits at a black tiger prawn farm in North Queensland, Australia, improving efficiency, reducing energy consumption, and ensuring ASC certification compliance.
At Newterra, we are committed to a sustainable future. Our water and wastewater solutions positively impact the environment, and we prioritize social responsibility, transparency, and ethical business practices to do so. This dedication allows our partners and clients to achieve tangible environmental, social, and governance progress.
